The sensation of freefall is quite
hard to explain. Once exiting the aircraft you and your instructor
will accelerate up to 200km an hour. You can feel the wind rushing
past your entire body. Exhilarating is just one
word to sum it up.
Depending on the height you choose to skydive from,
your freefall times can last up to 25 seconds from 8000 feet, 35
seconds from 10 000 feet, and 50 seconds from 12 000 feet.
When approaching 5000ft during your freefall, the
tandem master will deploy the main parachute. You may feel a slight
jerk as you decelerate and the canopy fully inflates. Once fully
inflated your instructor may point out some sights for you and hand
you the steering toggles. Don’t freak out, we have two sets.
(like a backup steering wheel!) The view is awesome. You may like
to try some turns, or even a spiral or two. For a more serene experience
just sit back while the instructor safely escorts you back to the
ground. Some say the canopy ride is the most pleasant thing ever
experienced. Imagine - nothing around you, beautiful sights, peace
and tranquility.
At around 1000 feet, your instructor will again take
control and ask you do a practise landing and from then on just
enjoy the rest of the ride.
All our instructors are fully certified with the Australian
Parachute Federation. They offer expertise in tandem jumping with
safety and fun of the utmost importance. We use only the latest
tandem rig equipment and accessories. All skydiving gear is fitted
with automatic opening devices and is inspected regularly. |
